Post Captain: HMS Sybille vs Forte (28.02.1799)

Last Thursday we had another game using the Post Captain rules. Angus came up with historical scenario where British frigate HMS Sybille took by surprise French frigate Forte on 28th of February 1799 on the waters of Bay of Bengal.
W ostatni czwartek mieliśmy kolejną grę z użyciem zasad Post Captain. Angus przygotował scenariusz historyczny, gdzie brytyjska fregata HMS Sybille zaskoczyła fregatę francuską Forte dnia 28 lutego 1799 na wodach Zatoki Bengalskiej.

2. The game. Gra.

We started game with HMS Sybille chasing Forte. French ship was unprepared for battle and needed three turns to do it. Thanks to the good winds we managed to keep distance and when we were ready we turn back and moved against British ship. We passed and it and fired. British ship suffered significant rigging damages then I managed to turn back and fired from the other side. British ship catched the fire. I decided to repeat the maneuver, but then I was hit by deadly British carronades. It killed my captain and forced to moral test. I diced the worst score and our ship stroke her colors. For the bigger fun, Bill did not managed to stop the fire and British ship soon exploded. Battle finished with Royal Navy victory but with the better special effects than the original battle.

Rzuciłem i otrzymałem najgorszy możliwy wynik i nasz okręt opuścił banderę.

Poland 1939 (9). Polish infantry. Polska 1939 (10). Polska piechota.

It looks like painting is the most difficult thing to do this year. When I finally manage to finish is time to celebrate that. Despite that I have one more reason to be happy. Some time ago my blog was visited for 250 000! So my next step to million is done. Thank all of you for that!
Kiedy więc już coś skończę, to dobry moment by to świętować. Jest jeszcze jeden powód by czuć się szczęśliwym. Jakiś czas temu mój blog został odwiedzony po raz 250 000! Mój kolejny krok do miliona został właśnie wykonany. Bardzo Wam za to dziękuję!

Now, the figures. This time it is Polish infantry for my Poland 1939 project. They come from two manufactures: First to Fight and HaT

Now I am going to paint some tanks and guns for my Poles for the same project, then I move to my Germans 1939, also some guns and some vehicles. Then I will arrange some games for that and what after that I don't know yet...

Back and Beyond; Lithuania 1919. Back and Beyond; Litwa 1919.

Last Thursday we had a big game of Back and Beyond. Once again we used Setting The East Ablaze rules with some our amendments (we used order dice, something similar to Bolt Action, instead of cards, which speed up game a little bit). That fictional scenario involved Bolsheviks, Whites, Poles and British fighting for a small village, somewhere in Lithuania. You can ask what to hell Whites or Brits did in Lithuania in 1919, then don't. We just wanted to use our toys.
W ostatni czwartek mieliśmy dużą grę Back and Beyond z użyciem zasad Setting The East Ablaze z pewnymi naszymi ulepszeniami (karty zastąpiliśmy kośćmi, coś na wzór Bolt Action, co znaczne przyspieszyło grę).

2. The game. Gra.

In our game bolsheviks were kept the small village near the river surrounded by Whites. Two relief columns were approaching the village. However those two columns, were followed by two hostile forces of British and Poles. The fight begin. It started with general assault of the Whites supported by British on the village. Reds hold the line, but their situation was very dramatic. Specially when one of the relief column has been stopped by my Poles. The things get even worst, when the Red gunboat get sunk by the British vessel. When Red players thought that slowly everything get sorted they got another surprise, a Polish plane. The main task was to sunk the Red Gunboat, but that ship was a wreck right now, so instead of that, my plane shot some target in the village and then decimated the Red Cavalry. Then Whites and British entered the village and started successively cleared it off the remaining bolsheviks. Finally it surrendered to the British. The game was over and the Communist forces were driven off the Lithuania, at least till 1920...
Wtedy Biali i Brytyjczycy weszli do wioski, którą zaczęli sukcesywnie oczyszczać z Czerwonych. Ostatecznie skapitulowała przed Brytyjczykami, co zakończyło grę. Litwa została oczyszczona z sił komunistycznych, przynajmniej do 1920...

Deep Fried Lard, Musselburgh 2017.

Like every year, in June we meet at Musselburgh Rugby Club for Deep Fried Lard. DFL is part of the events organized across the country by gents from Too Fat Lardy and this one is for gamers from Scotland. This is good opportunity to play Too Fat Lardies products, those published long time ago, the fresh one and also that not published yet. It is usually two sessions, the morning and the afternoon. We chose games and play them. Great idea.

1. The Morning Session. Sesja poranna.

1.1 What a Tanker!

As the first game I pick up the unpublished yet game, temporally called What a Tanker! It is TFL answer for popular trend right now of playing only tanks, not the infantry etc. What a Tanker! gave us that opportunity and it is very simple and very enjoyable too. Every tank have only three characteristics: armour, firepower and some extra rules. We have six order dice and we roll them to get some orders, which are (aiming, moving, firing, loading etc.). According to the order dice and what we just rolled, we taking our actions. If we getting pierced hit we losing our order dice. That all what we need to know about the rules. I get them very quick and really like them. For me it was the best game of the day.
Pierwszą grą, którą wybrałem była nieopublikowana jeszcze gra, roboczo nazywana What a Tanker!

In our game three Pz IV and one StuG III faced British tanks (1 x Firefly, 2 x Shermans, 1 x Cromwell). I played Pz IV. The game was umpired by Jack Glanville and we used his 15mm tanks. Despite better guns we lost... Germans lost all their tanks. However I was the last German tanker left against three British tanks (I managed to destroy one Sherman). Good and funny game. Jack showed me the Eastern Front statistics and it will be magnificent opportunity to use them with my collections. Can not wait till the rules will be published.
W naszej grze trzy czołgi Pz IV wsparte jednym StuG III stanęło przeciw brytyjskim czołgom (1 x Firefly, 2 x Shermany, 1 x Cromwell). Dobra i wesoła gra. Jack pokazał mi statystyki dla frontu wschodniego i będzie to doskonała okazja wy wykorzystać te zasady razem z moją kolekcją. Nie mogę się doczekać na opublikowanie zasad.

1.2. Other games. Inne gry.

1.2.1. Muddy CoC.

1.2.2. Sharp Practice.

The games are always better when umpired by the author of the rules. The best table of the morning.

1.2.3. General de Armee

1.2.4. Chain Of Command Vietnam.

2. Afternoon Session. Sesja popołudniowa.

2.1. General de Armee.

My second game was General de Armee. I was tempted to check that game by Angus. Two years ago TFL tried to fix for Napoleonic period Chain Of Command, but it seems that decided to do it in different way. So last month they published that set. It is brigade level game so it hit the market so far reserved for Black Powder and Over the Hill in our club. Angus want to use it for Seven Years War. The game was umpired by John Evans and we used his toys. We used the basic stats for the game. I have to tell, that the rules were good. However they are not easy pick and it took me some time to understand them. There is a lot of tables you have to go through, but when you finally maintain them, the game is easy and flow very smoothly. The rules are recommended for all of those, who thinks that Black Powder or Over the Hill are to simple and want something more. The rules put a great effort on command and morale, so if you like it, the game is for you.
Angus chce te zasady używać do wojny siedmioletniej. Do gry wykorzystaliśmy podstawowych charakterystyk.

In our game me and Michael Schneider commanded the French (3 Infantry brigades, one was off table and 1 cavalry brigade) against Campbell and Angus who commanded the Austrians (3 Infantry brigades and 1 cavalry brigade). Campbell and Angus quickly deserted and their place took Michael Scott. Our frontal attack failed and both of infantry brigades had to withdraw to our initial positions. However my cavalry managed to broke the Austrian cavalry brigade and soon took position on the flank of the wavering Austrian infantry brigade. Also on their other flank just appear our fresh new infantry brigade, so the Austrians were surrounded in Cannae style. We called it a draw to satisfy all players. During the game we had very funny situation. Both Michaels were in melee and Michael Schneider rolled double 1 and had to face double 6 from Michael Scott. Can you believe it!
Jako wynik gry ogłosiliśmy remis by zadowolić wszystkich graczy. Podczas gry mieliśmy zabawną sytuację. Podczas walki wręcz obu Michaelów, Michael Schneider rzucił dublet jedynek przeciw dublecie szóstek Michaela Scotta. Potraficie w to uwierzyć!

2.2. Other games. Inne gry.

2.2.1. What a Tanker!

This time the 28mm version. They managed to play two games during the session.

2.2.2.Sharp Practice.

According to all of us the best table of the day, brought by Michael Scott. I think that you can order one like that from him. If you want something like that, contact me and I will contact Michael for you.
Jeśli jesteście tym zainteresowani mogę Was z Michaelem skontaktować.
